2011 Y 4 M   ["The Destructed town"], People were lined up since early morning at bus stop to go out of the town. Even though it was early morning, the Bus Stop was jammed with more than hundred people. It was only 6 a.m. in the morning, and the bus stop was pretty crowded by the people. All the people were moving with big luggages towards the destructed town at the same time. Few of them were carrying nearly 3 to 4 luggages all by themselves. Many of them waited for more than one hour to board the bus. To store their big luggages people were ready to entrust their luggages to the side trunk of the bus. In order to get on the heavily crowded bus, people were selfish enough to board the bus without giving chance to the person standing in front of their queue, as if nobody existed before them. Somehow I boarded the bus in the end. Because I couldn't find a vacant seat, I became weary by my tiredness. A melancholic air was lingering inside the bus that was moving towards the town. I talked to the person in the next seat overlooking the environment within the bus. His parents strongly opposed his going to this town. Knowing that his emotions were becoming worse, he decided to go to this town. At the end, his parents seem to have respected his decision and allowed him to go. It takes nearly two hours to reach this town by bus. The road seems to have been closed until recently. While I was chatting with this person, the surrounding scenery changed. Without speaking to each other, we begin to view outside of the bus. When we reached the town, there was no sign of any bus stop, only an open space existed. When I descended from the bus in one jump, all I found everywhere was terrible soil smoke and dust. My ears were blasted by the roaring sound of the siren of the emergency vehicles (ambulances) and the helicopter noise which were used for transportation. The Disaster Emergency vehicles which were running at the site belonged to the Self Defence Forces. I took the helmet, mask and boots from the back and prepared myself to move. All the bus passengers got down and got into the cars which were waiting for taking them to the affected area. Since I and my friend didn't knew in which direction we have to go, we decided to walk in the direction in which the bus had come from, for the time being. We both separated at an intersection of the town where the signal post didn't existed. I think I must have walked nearly five km in west direction from the place I started. On both sides of the road facing the town, I found nothing but piles of garbage that were disposed on the mud posing like a continuous range of wall. Because the problems were not tackled immediately one by one, almost everything was destroyed. Moreover, as I walked, I found that near the vicinity of the railway tracks, 2 - 3 cars were still lying upside down on the railway tracks. I realised that what I saw today in this town was completely different from what I have experienced till now in my life. As I moved further, I realised the situation was becoming worse and worse. I felt as if a giant has grasped almost the entire town in his both hands, dipping the town into the muddy water and then throwing it away into the air, after crushing them into pieces with all his might. In the market street of the town, the fishing boats were lying moored, the cars were parked in the interior of the house, the signal post were lying at the roadside, the height of the pedestrian bridge and the road were almost same and at many places the bridges didn't existed anymore. Thus, the entire town's scenario i.e above and below/ right and left had been lost and destroyed. While walking through the streets, I felt pangs of overwhelming mixed feelings of surprise, sadness, and anger. A number of questions passed my mind "Who did these kind of things and Why?", "Can you say that this is fate?" While moving I came across a number of incidents. At an intersection which was covered with dust and where nobody existed, "An Old woman was shouting, `Distribution of steamed rice is arranged , please come and have it'", "We are Indians and Pakistanis, who have come for distributing the steamed rice" and they were calling repeatedly in Japanese "We are distributing the steamed rice". "A group of junior high school students, as Student's Volunteer Movement were carrying helmets, masks and deck brush", "Exhausted and crestfallen Volunteer groups could be seen everywhere, who were covered with mud.", "A Girl was looking at the innumerable broken pianos in front of a music store". I advanced towards the direction of the pier/ wharf, after averting all these scenes. The bridge which leads to wharf/ pier had collapsed. There, the river's flow had seemed to be affected by the collapse of the bridge and huge amount of earth, sand, tiles and pebbles were deposited in the water causing stagnation. As a result, a large amount of the water flowed into the east side of the town. As a result, the situation of the east side of the town was very critical. As I walked through the town, it seemed to look like an uninhabited ghost town. As expected, everywhere the destruction of life and things has caused asymmetry in the environment. After a while, far away, I saw big ships were stranded at the pier. One man was standing alone at the edge of the wharf. When I approached him, I greeted him "Hello". Pointing his finger in a particular direction, he began to say, "Though I had a company in this wharf, now I cannot even find signs of it " He said, "He comes here every day, and waits for the return of his employees whose existence is not known. ". I became silent unable to say any appropriate words necessary for the situation. After a while, I parted him saying these words "I will pray for the employees to be found. Sayonara (Goodbye)" Today, though we are saying "Let's do our best. Japan". "Let's do our best. Tohoku", it is felt that the possibility of searching them out is impossible. The local supporters have to satisfy themselves by saying "Let's do our best". To our regret, in the present situation, these encouraging words seem to be unmeaning. The badly affected victims are still living in the "It is still unbelievable" and "Nightmare" state. It will take many years for these people to realize the reality and come out of this nightmare. At present, it is very crucial to transfer all these broken hearted victims to another place as soon as possible. It is necessary to give an opportunity to these victims to settle down in their mind, create vicinity for a new life and opportunities, in order to come out of this "Nightmare" temporarily. It is especially necessary for people whose losses are unaccountable and it will take considerable time for the people of this town to have a come back in the present reality. Although it has already become late evening, there is no sign of light at all. I once again decided to walk to the grounds of the bus stop. "Even if man's omniscience omnipotence is increased, he is powerless in front of the nature, isn't it?", "If it is so, haven't we got a lesson from it yet?"," In reality, what is very precious for human beings?", "Is it of any use for us to collect the things? ", I walked on while thinking about these unanswered questions. I saw a girl pulling the hand of a child towards the cloud of dust. Are they walking towards the bath facilities that the Self Defense Forces has constructed? What on earth will become of this orphaned child affected by this earthquake? What can these children who have lost their loved ones do? I came to understand the meaning and importance of life and things in this town. Under the mist of the cloud of dust, I saw the headlight of the bus far away. I left the destroyed town.

2010 Y 11 M   November, 2010 the sky is becaming cloudy in the middle of the autumn season. Small typhoon may be approaching slowly? According to the morning weather forecast, the typhoon has passed the Kii Peninsula, and is approaching to the Kanto region. It may approach the Kanto region in the middle of the night. I went towards the garage after packing the luggage. After throwing the luggage at the back seat, I started the car engine. Fortunately, the highway traffic jam does not seem to exist. I may reach Chikura in two hours, if I leave now. Chikura is located in the south of the Boso Peninsula, and is situated at a distance of about 30 minutes drive from Tateyama. Since the opening of the Acqua Line and Tokoyama Highway of Tomiura exit some time ago, the access from the city center has become much easier. It is possible to arrive at Chikura within two hours if I pass Kawasaki ,go through Southern Kisarazu intersection and get on Tateyama Road and exit at Tomiura. Before the construction of the Acqua line, it used to take three and half hours from the city center. Through the Meiji Dori, I cross the Rain bow bridge, by taking the Metropolitan Expressway from the Tengenji. Fortunately, it is not raining yet. Through the No. 1 Haneda Line, I drove the car towards Kawasaki. Since it is Monday afternoon, the traffic flow is pretty fast. If I go at the present speed, I can pass the Acqua Tunnel at around three o'clock. I have been to Chikura, simce nearly 15 years ago. Every year I take one or two trips to this place. "I often wonder, why am I visting same place in last 15 years". Though the beauty of Chikura always existed, the reason is that it has not changed more or less, in any form in the past 15 years. Chikura coast has one small summer house and it is all about and keeing a similar appearance, what it was in 15 years ago, There were summer houses begore around the coast but no new buildings have built. In today's world , where everything is changing, Chikura still revive in its olden glory. It is something I am not able to understand. We may suddenly forget the un-destroyable beauty of the things that are rapidly changing in this world. The Unchangeable Chikura coast is well overlooked and has a continuous sandy coast of 2-3 Km , and on a day when the weather is good, it is possible to have clear sky. Since Chikura coast is facing the Pacific Ocean, it has good waves and is good for surfing. Therefore every summer professional surfing competition takes place here. During this time the coast is highly crowded. Other than summer, the place is so quiet, as if completely forgotten. Especially, during the weekdays in the fall and winter, the beach is completely empty. Even waves are calm. On such lonely beach, long forgotten memories can be revived while walking. [Few years ago, while watching the coast, I saw a dog running on the coast. It was a small, brown colour dog which looked like a fox with a very long tail. Because it was running very fast, the completely stretched tail looked very beautiful. It ran cleverly while running close along the coastline of the coming waves. Almost like a child, innocently playing. I think there was a gap of 50m between us. He kept on moving far away from me. I stopped and stared at the sea for a long while. That day also, it was a dull cloudy day like today and the clouds covered the entire coast. Even the winds were strong. When I looked at the sea, it also stopped and looked at me. After some time, it again looked at me. I went to him quietly. It didn't move. The distance between us reduced to 5 m. It looked at me without moving. I also observed him for quiet some time. His face looked like a duck. His eyes were as big as Mexican "Chihuahua". It had thin legs like a deer, the color was like "SAI" and ears of a Hound breed. He was not collared. I think he must be 1-2 years old. Someone seems to have left him. I tried to put forward my right hand in front of his left knee. His nose touched my hands. Our eyes met. At that time, I saw a look of deep sadness in his eyes.] When I passed the Acqua tunnel, it started raining. But it was drizzling slightly. The view from the Acqua line was cloudy today. While passing the south Kisaradzu IC, if you cut at the right curve, you will be going towards Tateyama. From this point to Tomiru IC Terminal, it is 30 minutes. Once you enter the Tateyama highway, the traffic decreases rapidly. The vehicle from the opposite direction is almost none. Today without stopping at the drive-in, I plan to move forward. If one can reach by 4 PM in the evening, one can walk on the beach until dusk. Till the IC Tomiura Terminal it is a gradual slope. While moving towards the downhill slope, one can see the sea. The drizzling seems to have stopped. Opening my car window slightly, I whispered, "I will come soon ". In answer to my whisper, the dog sniffed the air through his nose. If the sea is already nearby, it will recognize it anywhere. Like in the past, I can once again see him running along the coastline in the same old appearance, in which I saw him so many years ago. In the similar autumn background, I once again will revive the old forgotten memories.

2010 Y 4 M   11 th --"The Song of a flower" Every year, whenever this period comes, this song comes to my mind. This song, "The Song of a flower" was composed by the German Range Band. Though the songs of Range Band is generally said to consist of sarong gentle songs, but in the "The Song of a flower" one can feel the secret passion of desire and peacefulness. The first nine lines becomes the base of the song and are repeated four times. These nine lines maintain the complete balance of the song, gently and calmly. The scene of the flower blooming up slowly is imagined. Later the melody changes a little and makes one somehow feel uneasy. Hereafter, will it turn up smoothly? Or, will it face a lot of pressure? In the latter half, it changes very passionately into a melody. The blooming of the flowers everywhere seems to compete the beauty. Through the Arpeggio, the movement of the flower is expressed as the way one should live, in the best possible manner with whatever little life has to give. The cherry blossoms snowstorm is associated with the dancing of the cherry blossoms in the strong wind. The song ends very silently and makes us feel the moment when the tender cherry blossoms start falling. Thus, in the end the music sounds sadly as if the life of the flower has come to an end, but at the same time gives the peaceful feeling. The human life is fleeting like the cherry blossom. However, in this world, every person spends his life, the way he feel better, in the best possible manner. This song has always visualized human's life while playing. And thus every year, it is played at the end of the March. Thus taking in account the thanks and desires of the significant people. Today, the news of former colleague's cameraman's death has been transmitted from Bangkok. Therefore it will be not be possible to see this year's cherry blossom. How many such offices exist in this world where the colleagues of the same office with a similar sense of mission till the end of life, withhold the thought of resigning, every time they decide to resign the office. I want to play this song by praying sincerely from my heart.

2009 Y 11 M   3 rd -- Transition to a mature society. Dodd Emmanuel a French demographist and a social anthropologist, in the evening edition of the Nihon Keizai Shimbun dated 21st October, 2009 has remarked about the transition/ switchover of the Japanese Government [" Japan is standing at a historical turning point"], [The surprising transition / switchover of the power in Japan is completely different from the recent trend of the Europe]. The politics of Europe tends to lean to the right, as a result if there is some change it is very difficult to determine anything. This is due to the aging factor. If the age of the voter goes up, it becomes clear that the right wing will become advantageous. However, a big change has occurred in Japan which is advancing towards the world's aging factor. This was an intellectual impact. Moreover, as far as I know this unexpected change, as per the age and the community structure, is not because of a vast difference in the Support of Political party and the Voting behavior. On the other hand in France, the young generation and the labor class clearly have the tendency to support the leftist. If so, Japan has only changed from one "Unanimous approval" into another "Unanimous approval", which means that the victory of a certain power proves that the previous government has not served satisfactorily. 2009 Y 10 M   1 St - Are we human or are we dancer? Last year, in the month of November, America's Rock Band Group [ The Killers] released a song [Human ] of the album [Day & Age ]. [The Killers] band has come from Las Vegas several years back, now they are a super hit in the U.K. The wonderful song [Human] resembles the fast singers of 1980's beats. This song not only has the cooling affects of melody or Video Promotion, but exceeds the meaning it is trying to convey. In this song [Human], the rhetoric phrase "Are we human or are we dancer? ", has been sung repeatedly more than 9 times within a span of 4 minutes. This rhetoric is the main theme of the song, and has asked us this question throughout the song. If you translate this song [Are we human, or are we dancer], the Brandon and Flowers' vocal, touches the criticism of the writer Hunt and Thompson [America is upbringing dancers in the next generation]. This rhetoric has various meanings. - Are we dancers who cannot do an independent action and can only dance when are made to do it? Or keep dancing until the curtain goes up or comes down on the stage. As per the instructions and promise, shouldn't the dancers perform the repertoire? Or aren't the people whose heart is singing / beating, a human? Though this album by chance (accidentally), has been a super hit release in the recent November Lehman Shock, doesn't there exist a rhetoric in the chaos of the global financial market?. 2009 Y 9 M   11 Th - "Ieyasu Tokugawa" - In this summer, the writer Yamaoka Hachi, read through all the 26 volumes of "Ieyasu Tokugawa". It took eight months to finish reading, he started reading from January of this year. In order to write this lengthy work, Yamaoka Hachi spent two years for planning, eighteen years for writing, in total, he spent a period of twenty years to complete this work. He was writing this book for a period of twenty years, starting from the age of 40 years to 60 years. A period of twenty years is a long time. Although it took more than twenty years, it became possible to finish it. [Ieyasu Tokugawa] was not only evaluated highly by the Japanese Businessmen, but also by the Chinese Businessmen. Following is the extract from the People Net Japanese edition. As per the English newspaper [Times] report of March 3rd, 2009, in the life and achievement of the titans of the history of Japan, currently the sales of one set of 13 volumes of [Ieyasu Tokugawa] has shown exploding sales in China. A Chinese fan said "From the hard filled life of [Ieyasu Tokugawa] one can learn success, autonomy and the key to victory". The original writer, the Japanese writer, Yamaoka Hachi wrote [Ieyasu Tokugawa] fifty years back. Though the Chinese edition, was published in the beginning of the last year, it became a best seller of the Chinese market by selling two million copies and is still continuously selling. According to a Chinese editor of this book, one of the causes that this book has become a best seller is deterioration of the financial crises. Ieyasu Tokugawa was born in the 16th century and established the Shogunate Edo Government in the beginning of the 17th century. This new political system concluded the age of war disturbances that lasted several centuries. In Japan, the appearance of the Ieyasu Tokugawa is symbolized as Japan becoming a "Harmonious society". Why on earth, the success, autonomy, and the key to victory are written here? The interpretation of the secret of the success in my own way has been compiled in the read book. I also finished reading "Ieyasu Tokugawa" in eight months and learned something from it. They are, the following three points - 1. Patience 2. Carefulness and 3. Simplicity 1. Even if dollar-yen rate becomes 70 yen, 50 yen or 150 yen, 200 yen, our essence doesn't change, although economy receives stagnation and large shock. I think Ieyasu's personally is expressed very well. In the life of Ieyasu Tokugawa, burdens were shot negatively and kept on going on a far road without hurrying up. If you think inconvenience is too much, it is not dearth if there is hope in the mind, then it is necessary to recall when you were poor. Patience is a unit of the safety for long period and anger is the enemy. If you learn only Winnings and doesn't know Failures, then you will harm your self. Do not blame the person, blame yourself, as per your going through, you will reach excellence.

2009 Y 2 M   10th ---, "Aikido"- In June 2004, I have decided to start Aikido practice (Keiko at Aikido Headquarter Dojo). After celebrating my birthday in May, I felt strongly that I need to correct the course of my life. By falling down and crawling on Tatami, conceited mind needs to be changed and humble heart needs to be regained. When I look back now, I was trying to do "Aikido" as not only for the practice itself but also to look for the way improving "Mind-Skill-Body" (Shin-Gi-Tai). It has passed about 5 years since I have joined Headquarter Dojo. What have I learned during past 5 years out of Aikido Keiko? People may have different interpretations and meanings of "Mind-Skill-Body" (Shin-Gi-Tai); "Mind - Shin- Kokoro" - my interpretation is the peace and fulfillment in heart. If you are mentally fully stable then you have a motivated heart and mind. "Skill - Gi - Waza" - by learning the techniques of Aikido and improving them through understanding the process and means via good attitude , and make each/every Waza to be important. "Body -Tai -Karada" - Healthiness from a healthy body and mind , it is including the self-management practice and life style. If all three become harmonized and united, it is ideally situation, but practically `how many days in one year, do we have ideal situation in Aikido practice and do excellent `Ukemi' or perform very best in normal life? Human being have a problem; Stress at work; Stress in relationships; Issue of money; Family issues (parental care, education of children); Self, family members, relative's health issues. There is no person in the world without having a problem. By facing these problems, doing Aikido with harmonizing those three (Mind, Skill and Body) into one, could be very difficult and only a few days of moment can be qualified for that throughout one year. When the mind has been unstable, when an insufficient understanding of the techniques, when the body can not used fully, "Ukemi" is something like out of mind and it is unconformable. It is very important to be aware of your balance of "Mind-Skill-Body" (Shin-Gi-Tai) situation through Aikido, to understand and feel sensitivities and to correct the course of life by him/herself. By doing `Ukemi', sending heartbeat and talking to your internal voice, it is important to keep asking `what is lacking now, is it the part of "mind"? parts of "Technique"? or the part of "Body"? I have learned even thought various problems and issues may not be resolved right now, it is important to note the current situation and to take towards the right direction. I interpreted "Mind-Skill-Body" as in different Japanese Kanji wording since it sounds similar "Shin-Gi-Tai". "Shin" - Intimacy/kind; It is give and receive intimacy with others. "Gi" - It is to do right things; it is by understanding what is right. "Tai" - it is calm and relax. This theme is very idealistic and it is easy to be said; however how one can have such a fulfilled life having "Mind-Skill-Body" and "Shin-Gi-Tai"? Through Aikido, and through every day "UKemi", and the exploration and the adjustments will continue and be never ending.

2008 Y 12 M   30 th -- Flat Society VS Society Gap/disparities - The October Issue of Japanese version of Harvard Business Review (HBR) had a very interesting article. "Proof of history: The World is not Flat". A professor at Harvard University Jeffrey G. Jones was interviewed by HBR magazine. "Jones has advocated a controversial concept of the World is Flat, written by Thomas Friedman (Excerpts from HBR October Issue)". I would like to think about Friedman's "The World is Flat" and the way Jones has cited the other antithetical recites by University of Toronto professor Richard Florida who wrote "Creative Class" and "The Rise of the Creative Class" Friedman's "The World is Flat" is telling that IT and Internet is strong driver for new global business model. And because of this new global business model, Co-operation and innovation start to happen beyond cross-board which lead fundamental change of traditional competitiveness. For example, a company in Japan do outsource IT development and translation work to China and India. A bank or credit card company's call center may be located at Sydney. Also like its accounting group is in Bangalore, India and their development section is in Vietnam. So-called low-end jobs that will be done in the country where all costs are very attractive and their role will be included as one of the value chain. The World IT and Internet development is now happened to stand the same ring (Level Playing Field). On the other hand, The Florida Economic competition is, depends on the importance of 3 T's, `Technology,' `Talent', and `Tolerance'. These 3 standards depends on highest standards of knowledge and wealth concentrated on only particular cities. Gap between cities are increasingly spread irrespective of Nation or Regional Disparities and Gap of these nations and region will be increasing more and more. In particular, United States has significant impact after 9.11 and their competitiveness on increase the outflow of human resources of international students by strict immigration regulations. Florida's concept is principle of competitiveness is based on cities rather than counties such as the first tier city is New York, London, Tokyo, Paris. The third tier is Boston, Amsterdam, Osaka, Beijing and Rome etc. These cities will attract the global creative talents like a magnet. I am not going to say which is correct out of two concepts; however I think the two are ongoing together in the World. It is true that the world is flat and it is also true that expansion of the gap does exist. It is not only economic factor gives impact but also environment; surrounding economy such as religion, politics, social systems and the static trend in population will give huge impact. And after 20 years the dynamics of labor supply and demand balance of the world population make the World is Flat and at the same time creates a significant gap in between. In India at Chennai, from the center to the south along the coast there is 25 kilometers long IT Highway. Across this High way, one can see the social disparity of living with the World is Flat. Usually in the IT area, buildings are lined up orderly and things are organized in general , however here, it is the different. After looking the center of Chennai, across the Highway, the left is the coastline facing the Bay of Bengal. In this region, U.S., Europe, Asia, India's well-known IT, back-office development for telecommunications companies and financial institutions lined on both sides of the Highway. It is a very different landscape compared to the center of Chennai where no high-rise building. But you look carefully in front of the IT building, there are farmers and fishermen in the coastal side of the house (the village) also are there. They are also selling items in front of the gate of IT parks and IT companies. What did this village people think of this sudden emergence of IT building in the same place?. The village people were selling vegetables and fish even before in the social area where this IT company engineer working. For IT guy, this is the daily routine they pass through this before entering the gate of their company. He was always having this in his mind. "Oh! I'm lucky. I can not live like the people of the village.. "However, after a while the situation has changed completely. Because of edges of sub-prime economic crisis issue in the United States from United States ,IT outsourcing of jobs has dwindled. His company is down sizing the business and many may have to leave the job. One morning, village person who was looking at IT guy who dropped his shoulder and looks very disappointed ,goes through the gate of the company and ,muttered " I am lucky " "I can not live like this IT people " .
